The core should be cut to size and protected at the point end. To do this decide on the final weapon length and subtract 80mm. Cut the rod to this length. If left unmodified the tip of the core will soon poke through the foam, so needs to be 'blunted' using either of the following methods:- a. Cut two squares of gaffa tape approximately 3cm square. Stick one square to the core so that the tip is in the centre of the piece. Using the glue gun, fill around the tip on top of the sticky side of the tape. Stick the second piece of tape over the first and wait until the glue has solidified.
Next use scissors to cut the tip into a teardrop shape. b. Cut two squares of leather approx 3cm square (see photograph). Spread a thin layer of contact adhesive onto one side of each piece and wait until touch dry (approx 10 minutes). Press the two pieces together around the tip of the core and trim into a teardrop shape.
